Though I never want to think of Pugsly passing, I could not have found a better person to help him along the way. He had such a huge, brave heart, and needed someone who could help him go with dignity, respecting him along the way.
Though I knew the time was coming, I came home from work one evening with Pugsly not able to get up. He didn’t even want to lift his head. Trying to control my emotions (but doing a horrible job of it), I called Dr. Forslund and got a hold of her husband. Through my sobbing, he understood that I needed the doctor to come over that evening, and he called me back to let me know she would be there as soon as possible. She had another appointment, and still came to my house late in the evening. When she bent down to talk to Pugsly, that was the first time he lifted his head. It was so he could lick her face. It was obvious that he was so comforted by her gentle soul that he knew why she was there, and was thanking her for helping him.
Dr. Forslund made the whole process gentle and calm. Pugsly passed with not even a flinch, and I knew he was pain free. The care I received didn’t end there. She kept in contact with me for a couple weeks, making sure I was doing ok and checking on my other dog as well. I always felt like she was there if I needed to talk.
Thank you and your husband so much for all the care you showed us when we needed it most. I really will never forget it.
