Kahlua came into my life on April 7, 1995. She had been abandoned and I gladly took her in. She was the perfect pet in every way from the moment she was brought to me. Upon her arrival she proceeded to walk into every room in my house to investigate it. She was at home from the moment she arrived. She even learned how to sit and give me a paw for treats! I was fortunate to get to spend 17 of her 22 wonderful years loving and caring for Kahlua.
My parents also loved her and Kahlua had a second home with them. She stayed with them whenever I traveled and also came with me for weekends spent at their home. Words cannot describe how much she is missed by all of us.
I know she is in a better place as I asked her to give me a sign before she left that she was ok. About 1 hour after Dr. Forslund left my home I had to go on an errand. When I got in my car and turned on the radio the song that was on was “What a Wonderful Life”. I knew right then that was Kahlua letting me know that she was ok. This song was also a favorite of my Godmother, Jean who had passed. I had told Kahlua that Jean was up there waiting for her so hearing this song really told me they were together. A couple of hours later my Mom called to tell me there was a rainbow over her backyard – a rare site in Southern California. She felt this was Kahlua letting her know as well that she was ok as Kahlua loved to spend time in their yard.
Thanks to Dr. Forslund for making this very difficult moment a peaceful one for all of us. I am so impressed by the whole service, from the initial contact to the follow up and care package I received afterwards. It was a very nice touch. Fortunately, I knew of home pet euthanasia services as both my neighbors used Dr Forslund’s service and were very comforted with having their pets comfortable at home in their last moments.
What a relief it was to see Kahlua resting and completely comfortable at home. She was not at all scared and drifted peacefully to sleep while I petted her. She knew I was with her until the end. I felt this was the kindest thing I could do for her: letting her go to her final rest peacefully in the comfort of her home with my loving hands petting her. What a relief to have no regrets about this. Kahlua you will always be with me in my heart…………….
