Our 17 year old black cat, Gus, was diagnosed with mega-colon in February 2012. This was the first time we’d chosen home euthanasia and surprisingly, The Home Pet Euthanasia of Souther California Team made a painful task more bearable and feel like the right choice was made.
Dr. Forslund was incredibly sensitive in all actions: from her greeting hug to her good bye hug. She started by reading Gus’s vet care history and discussed his current state. Then, she met our other pet, Betty, our bulldog. Nothing was hurried. We were specially impressed by her gentleness and swiftness with the catheter. All questions about the procedure were answered.
Dr. Forslund didn’t stop with just the procedure. Her kindness and concern was in the aftercare as well. She called to see how we were doing, she wrote a sympathy card and she mailed a keepsake death certificate and itemized invoice. Her quality service extended to her choice of crematoriums. The remains had a red heart-shaped tag of “Gus” imprinted on it. Gus was a 6 toed cat so we were happily surprised when we received the paw print from Peaceful Paws. Their kindness made us weep. Peaceful Paws also included a paper heart that held flower seeds.
Today we have a seeding that’s sprouted in honor of Gus - thanks to Peaceful Paws.
We are very happy that our primary vet’s home pet euthanasia referral was on vacation. Otherwise we would’ve never met Dr. Forslund.
