Oki taught us many lessons throughout her 12 ½ years of life on how to live and love. She lived every day with a purpose and loved us courageously, without regard for her own well-being.
We nicknamed Oki "little shadow" because she would never leave the side of Mom, following closely behind everywhere Mom went. When we brought her home many years ago, her purpose was to keep Mom company while Dad traveled for work a lot. Oki seemed to always know that was her mission, and she passed today knowing that she completed her mission successfully. We will miss Oki dearly, but she'll live in our memory forever.
It's been a really tough month for the canine members of our family. We've now lost Oki this morning at 10:17am. We thought she was just grieving over the death of Wally and not eating, but after two days in the hospital the Vet determined her kidneys were failing. She passed peacefully this morning at home in the arms of Mom and Dad.
Dr. Forslund, I can't thank you enough for your service and how kind and patient you were during the whole process. The gentle words you said to my wife, and more importantly Oki, as we went through the procedure really helped us cope and come to terms with our dear Oki's departure.
