Dear Dr. Forslund,
Thank you for providing a compassionate, loving, low-stress, peaceful service to both the animals in your care and to the people who truly care for their fur babies as much as they would their own child. You are blessed with an amazing heart and I am so grateful to have had you come and care for Dante and me. Thank you so much for your follow-up call and your lovely info packet. You have been so very kind and thorough.
Dante, the little kitty that could. I adopted him at six weeks old. He was found freezing in the gutter. He was not in good shape and the vet at that time just said to make him comfortable and that he did not expect him to live. Well, he did live. He and all his extra toes lead an amazingly long seventeen-year life. My "cat of little brains" was the most friendly, loving, sweet, dumb-as-a-box-of-rocks purr monster. He was just innocent, adorable, and a simple spirit. He was so happy all the time. My dim bulb has been the brightest light in my life. The picture was taken the day I adopted him. He grew into those feet.
My baby Dante was 17 years old, blind, and his health had deteriorated quickly. I had never heard my boy cry. But on the morning of February 20, 2013 he cried, he was in pain. I just felt helpless. I did not want him to have to suffer any longer. I wanted my baby to have his transition at home.
I hopped online and found Home Pet Euthanasia. I called and Dr. Forslund made an appointment for that day. It was very clear to Dr. Forslund that it was his time. She explained everything she was doing and what to expect. We had discussed the options regarding cremation over the phone so the doctor was clear on what I wanted, even the special request of my wanting both of Dante's paws to be memorialized in plaster as he was polydactyl. I wanted to have his huge front paws with six toes on each foot be shown, as his feet were a big part of his personality.
I was given all the time I needed to go through each step. I could hold Dante in my arms the entire time. I felt his relief after the first shot of sedative was administered. He finally felt no more pain. The next steps were done peacefully and with much care from the doctor who not only was concerned with her patient but with me as well. It was done when I was ready. Never during the home visit did I feel rushed. The peace that Dr. Forslund gave Dante and the care and respect he deserved were amazing.
A few years ago I had to take one of my cats to a vet for this process. It was cold, clinical, impersonal, and I thought he deserved better. He deserved to understand and have me there every step of the way to comfort him. I wish I had known about Home Pet Euthanasia back then.
I am so very grateful for your offer to help and be there for me, and for all your kindness and concern.
With light, love, peace, joy and gratitude,
Laurie Beth Martin
