How do I find the words to describe how wonderful the staff are at Home Pet Euthanasia? Thank you for helping our family through a difficult time.
Gidget was adopted in 1999 at 2 1/2 years, and she passed last month. She lived a full life. She was the ring bearer at our wedding. She watched her little brother grow to be 9 years old. I promised her she would not die in a vet hospital--alone, cold and without her family.
Near the end of her life, Gidget was able to make her last trip to Cayucos and go to the beach. Although the end was near she really perked up during that week with family and my parents’ dog, Tigger.
Shortly after our return she started to really slide. After a tearful phone call to Dr Annie, who spent an hour on the phone explaining quality of life and how a dog thinks during this time, I realized Gidget was just being brave for us. I asked her, and she told me she was ready. The next day my wife was having second thoughts, and Gidget kept looking at me like "you promised." The following day, after a great last meal, I told her Dr. Annie was coming. She watched the sunset, full and happy; she even followed the sun around the house before coming inside. She passed with all of us holding her. She seemed to truly be at peace and out of pain.
For me and for this dog, who was my life partner, cost was not an issue. Yes, it's more expensive than dumping Fido off at the vet. I guess that’s okay for some people.
For us, she was a sister, mother and companion, who will always have a place of honor in our hearts.
