Elmo was our beautiful gentle black cat. He was the best cat we have ever owned. We rescued him when he was 6 month old, and had him for 14 years. He was a part of our household; he read the paper with us every morning on the dining room table, and came outside on the patio in the summer to enjoy the sunshine. When the time had come to let him go it was a very difficult decision we had to make, but we knew. We called Home Pet Euthanasia, because we didn't want to put him in a carrier and stress him out.
We wanted our Elmo to be comfortable, not taken to the vet’s office in a cage where dogs are barking. He was home safe and happy til the end.
Dr Meg was very kind and soft spoken. She let us decide where we wanted to take care of our beloved Elmo. She took her time. No rush, we decided when we were ready. Even though it was a sad experience, it was a good experience. She helped us through a very difficult time with her kindness.
We could be with Elmo til the end. He was safe in our arms and his only home for 14 years. And we could grieve--not in some strange office, but in the comfort of our own home and say goodbye.
He loved being home, sleeping most of the time in those final days.I was able to hold him in my lap, he was purring, as he always did. Dr. Meg was very kind, gentle and soft spoken. She made us feel comfortable with our decision, but more important she made Elmo feel comfortable too. The procedure didn't take long - it was simple and quiet. Yes we cried, but we knew we made the right choice. Elmo was at home safe in our arms until the end, he is now at peace.
