The day Buddy was brought home to me, I just about fainted at the thought of having a third Golden Retriever, and the expense of caring for three huge dogs. No sooner then a few hours in, I fell in love with him. He grew into a beautiful and strong, life loving dog. He was the dog you would see in the movies, the dog you would see in calendars, and the dog everyone wanted to pet. He loved car rides, walks, chasing and fetching balls, guarding your children when they were home alone, opening the door and letting the cat out, and greeting you after a bad day at work. A true GOLDEN heart indeed. He was very comical, especially when the big loof would sneak into our house so quietly. How he did it on laminate floors was a mystery, but once he was busted, he'd kick up his back legs and run like mad, his huge ears flopping every which way as he did. He truly was a happy dog and you couldn't help laugh at his antics. He brought joy and helped us through tough times with his comical ways.
No sooner then his 7th year of life, we were given the grim news. "Your dog has bone cancer in his hind leg". Amputation was not an option for us, so we decided to manage the pain. He did well for a while, but eventually it was time to let him go. He was no longer the happy dog we knew. This was the second time Dr. Forslund came to help one of our pets cross over to Rainbow Bridge, and we wouldn't have it any other way. She not only helped us with the process, but our other senior dogs as well. Seeing how well our other dogs accepted the passing of their little brother really helped ease our pain. If they understood it, then it really was okay.
Thank you again, Dr. Forslund, for helping us get Buddy over to Rainbow Bridge. We know that he is there with our beloved Gizmo, running with those big ears flopping and happy, like he once was on Earth.
We miss you Buddy and we are glad you came to us, even if it was for a short time. You were worth it all.
