Dr. Forslund,
When Cole was younger, we'd find him, like Houdini, in the most unusual places--like on top of the ottoman! Also, he loved his canine friend Spicy, our greyhound, so the picture of them on the couch together is special. We used to joke that we had two "hounds"--a greyhound and a food hound. When we adopted him, he had not been well taken care of and did not know how to walk on a leash. He would pant wildly and froth at the mouth. Over time, as he began to trust us and know we loved him, he relaxed and became the most loving, loyal dog any owners could have. He was a kind and gentle spirit and was patient and gentle with our son, Nolan.
It was easier to let go of Cole knowing he was in familiar surroundings and in the comfort of my lap instead of a sterile, stressful vet’s office. Seeing him in the car with the blanket is a final image I can live with. Cole was a phenomenal, loyal, loving friend and he deserved a peaceful, loving goodbye. Thank you. Everything was as good as it could be.
My veterinarian, Dr Hoholm from Irvine Veterinary Services, referred us to you (after explaining the gravity of Cole’s condition) and we were grateful for her suggestion. She explained our options but we felt that extraordinary measures would increase Cole’s suffering. I am an animal lover and have many friends that are too. I have told them about you and have recommended your services highly. I only wish I could have done as well for my first love, a yellow lab named Riley.
Thanks again for helping us give Cole a fitting send-off.
