Here's a picture of my best girl.
Wilma was dumped in the parking lot of a Walmart. She spent the entire day on the hot pavement waiting for her owners to come back. The greeters were beside themselves because she wouldn't go to anyone. She was just frantic. It was probably 90+ degrees and the poor girl had a double-thick, jet black coat.
Well, she came to us! The first thing I did was run into Walmart for a cold bottle of water and a leash and collar. She drank the whole bottle.
Here we are with a 40+ pound stray dog in the cab of a pickup truck on our way home. I fully intended to find her another home because I already had two small dogs but it was just not meant to be. She was MY girl and with me she stayed.
Wilma was smart and funny and completely devoted to me. She NEVER let me out of her sight.
In her sunset years Wilma started failing. When it became apparent that Wilma had no quality of life, we called Dr. Annie. Saying Good-Bye was one of the most painful things I have ever had to do but it was an incredibly peaceful day. If it had not been so peaceful, I would have had a much harder time adjusting.
Dr. Annie made an awful day peaceful and calm. I will NEVER hand a pet over to a vet to be put down in a back room without me ever again. It is the most important gift you can give to your pet. . . to be there till the end.
Sincerely,
Kathy Boland
