Willie was born 24 August, 2001. In January, 2003, he was the Mission Viejo Shelter Pet of the Month; this is where we met Willie and adopted him. We were told he was abused, which he proved when we took him home; for a few months he didn’t want to be held and hid whenever he saw a broom. Gradually, the scratches on my arm lessened and he came to accept that he was now safe. He began to lie on my chest purring and rubbing my ears with his chin, as well as sleep next to my pillow, after about six months.
He had irritable bowel syndrome and a condition that attacked his liver, treated with daily doses of Denamarin. In 2005, he was diagnosed with diabetes; we checked his blood sugar daily; he received insulin when it was too high. We kept this routine until the spring of 2013, when we learned his red blood cells were slowly breaking down. We gave him Petinic, a vitamin supplement, which kept him active; his blood sugar levels remained normal without giving him insulin. Around December, his weight began dropping. When it dropped too low and his body started to shut down, we reluctantly used Dr. Forslund’s service. Her service is a great improvement over going to the vet’s office.
Thanks for all you do.
