Annie B. was an almost white lab that I brought home when she was 8 weeks old. It was just the two of us for the first few years. I remember when she was just a couple of years old I was on a medical leave for my migraines and I ended up in bed for almost 6 months. Annie was on that bed, right by my side the whole time.
During Annie’s middle years she lived more of a dog’s life. We lived in a home with another dog for about 6 years. A male cockapoo named Harrod. They had so much fun together. They ran the house, up and down stairs, Annie swam in the pool, she slept on a dog bed next to Harrod, these were great middle years for her.
Annie’s last few years until she passed on 2/27/18 at the age of 11 ½ were just the two of us again. She was slowing down but we lived by the beach and had ducks on our property. She was in good health until her last couple of years. At the end she was very comfortable but on many meds. I had told her about 3 months before I made my final decision, that she needed to let me know when it was time. When there was no more joy! When life wasn’t working for her anymore! Annie looked into my eyes the beginning of Feb. and I knew we were getting close. I made the appt. that day for 2/27.
I am still so sad! I have her ashes, paw print and pictures right next to my bed. Not a day goes by where I do not talk to her. I am in the process of moving due to all the memories I have where I live. I miss my sweet girls head on the pillow next to me.
Good news! I have found a new place closer to my work and my sister who raises Corgi’s and Shepard’s is giving me one of her Corgi’s that just turned 5 and will no longer be breeding. Her name is Holly. I know Annie would approve!
Until we meet again my sweet girl!
