In our 14 years together, Mao-Mi was the only pet we ever had so we doted upon her. She was a feral cat living in the backyard when we purchased our home in 2000. We officially adopted her the following year. She had a mysterious lung ailment that began this summer and dramatically worsened in October. We took her to see three different vets, none of whom could determine her illness. When antibiotics, steroids, and painkillers did not work, we made the heartbreaking decision to euthanize her. We didn't want her last moments to be in a cold, noisy veterinary clinic, so we searched the web and found Dr. Forslund.
When Dr. Forslund arrived, she genuinely wanted to learn more about Mao-Mi and why she meant so much to us. Dr. Forslund let us take our time to prepare to say goodbye. Our final gift to Mao-Mi was to end her suffering in the comfort of her own home. She passed away peacefully in our arms, gazing out into the backyard.
