Molly came into our home about 11 years ago when she was about 1 year old. We found her on a rescue site, made contact with the organization adopting out various pets, and it was love at first sight the moment we saw her. We were told that there is usually a waiting period while they check prospective adoptive families out, but they waived that period for our family, and Molly went home with us that afternoon.
Rockne, her adopted brother (Boston Terrier), was not too receptive at first. But we all became family soon, and over the next 11 years we were constantly together, sharing meals, nap-times, walks around the neighborhood, and vacations camping under the stars in Yosemite, all the things families do together.
From day one Molly was our protector. She followed us everywhere, especially Cathie, and never once let anyone come too close to any of us or our home without her approval first. Molly was loyal, lovable, and playful. She was extremely intelligent. She knew when it was appropriate to assume the role of a guard dog, and at the same time she was the most adorable and affectionate canine there ever was. Molly was a perfect companion to our family. I know she is missing us as much as we are missing her. I know we will also be together as a family again, only this time she will be adopting us into her new home. Molly can never be replaced, and we will live on with the most beautiful memories of her and our times on earth together.
Thank you Molly for coming into our lives and making our moments together as a family even that much more special. We miss you terribly, and we love you eternally.
Your family,
The Bakers (Mike, Cathie, Keegan, Nolan and Rockne)

Dear Dr. Forslund,
Thank you so much for the kind email. Without being too redundant and repeating what I have already submitted by mail, I just wanted to say thanks. The days and nights are still lonely without Molly. Too much of regular daily routines are reminders of her absence. Surprisingly, as much as they didn't get along, Rockne is missing her even more than we do I think. We are doing better, and thank you for asking.
I believe you perform a wonderful service for families that love and value the relationships they have developed over the years with their pets. More importantly, you come across to me as someone who sincerely cares about the families and pets you service while performing your duties as a doctor. This is an extremely important aspect of the whole process involving euthanasia to me, and I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to meet you and have you share Molly's final moments with me. I really felt you were like family, and that you belonged there with us.
Thank you Dr. Forslund. Have a pleasant weekend and thank you for all you do to make these trying times a bit easier to manage.
