Warner started life in a difficult and abusive situation. After her rescue it took time for her to trust, relax and come out of her shell. Underneath all the fear was a wonderful, sweet and gentle dog—full of personality.
When she started to develop various cancers almost ten years later, it was heartbreaking. She had a year before the cancer metastasized to her lymph nodes. My sweet friend was starting to fall apart physically. The Prednisone treatment worked well for her for about a month before she started to deteriorate. Thank you to Dr. Forslund for the painkillers and advice to keep her going comfortably for another couple of weeks. The heartbreak of saying goodbye was immense, but the thought of Warner passing in the comfort of her own home when it was time to let her go was so helpful.
We will all miss her, especially her lifelong canine companion, Beau.
Rest in peace, Warner.
