Dr. Annie,
Our hearts are broken from losing our kitty Peaches. She came into my life almost twenty years ago.
We went through many phases of life together—different relationships, homes, and jobs. Then we landed in paradise with my partner in Laguna, where she lived the last eleven years of her life. Peaches loved curling up in her condo in the sun, going for strolls outside, cuddling on your lap, and giving hugs. She would wrap her paws around your neck and nestle there. She had a tiny body, snow-white fur with peach markings, and the most striking blue eyes. One of our favorite things to do was the Circle of Love. I laid down in Child's pose next to her with my arms stretched in front making a circle. I said, "Come into the circle of love." She circled around me once, twice, and then on the third time, she'd curl up inside my arms.
Peaches passed peacefully with Dr. Forslund's compassionate, gentle help in the serenity of our home one week ago. There is a void in our lives that only time and memories can fill. Miss her so much! ♥

I wrote this poem for her in February:
Twenty Years with Peaches
Today, longer than a partner
Longer than living at home or one place
Longer than any job.
You were the only one
In my darkest hours giving me a hug
It was just you and me.
We lived in seven homes
You had two rivaling sisters, thankfully not at once
One loving mother for twenty years.
July is our birthday month
You turn twenty soon; I’ll be sixty next year
Both of us blue-eyed girls.
You still look like a kitten
But you’re almost ninety-seven in human years
You wake us every two hours like a baby.
Dementia and arthritis inhabit
Your svelte Peaches and cream body
You cry, even howl all the time.
Our mantra for calming you is:
Time to relax, time to rest
Peace for Peaches.
When the time has come
I want you to hop to heaven in your sleep
We wish Peace for Peaches.
