Dear Dr. Forslund,
It’s taken me several months just to be able to write this down but I am doing so because I wanted to be sure to thank you and your amazing team for your kindness and service. You are very compassionate and professional people who recognize how difficult loss is for us pet parents yet are able to shepherd us through with grace.
My house is no longer a home without my sweet pooches. I lost them both this year: Rio on February 21 and Sadie on June 12. I miss my babies so much but am grateful that they each transitioned peacefully. I continue to cherish the many memories I have of our beautiful life together.
They were both rescues and I was delighted to provide them a good home and lots of love. And, in return, they literally saved my life and gave me over 12 years of sweet, fluffy love, fun and purpose. Now the house is so still. I miss their presence everyday: wet noses, fluffy tails in perpetual motion, playing with toys, tricks for treats, guarding the house, long walks every morning and evening, waiting at the gate for my return, snuggling, waking up to “the paw”, sweet puppy kisses and the rhythm of their breath as we all fell asleep each night.
While it’s been a difficult process, I was so grateful to say goodbye at home where both Sadie and Rio felt safe, secure and relaxed. It allowed me to be responsible to my dogs by letting them go with dignity, peace and love. It was more comfortable for me too because I was able to hold them, assuring, kissing and comforting them as they passed. Both occasions were peaceful and dignified.
Thank you, Dr. Forslund & staff, for your kind service. As difficult a process as end of life can be, you and your team have managed to make the transition easier and more dignified.
Forever grateful,
Sarah Booth
