Sugar was our second pet to have in-home pet euthanasia by Dr Forslund. Having past experience with the process with our Lucky, we felt absolutely sure we wanted the same for our Sugar.
Sugar was 14 and we never did know what her breed was. She was only supposed to stay the weekend of Labor Day 1999. Over this weekend we fell in love with her dark brindle coat and eyes, the white star on her chest, her mismatched ears with one chunk missing on the right, her high cheek bones, and her polka-dot pink and black tongue. It’s no wonder when the owners weren’t able to pick her up, we kept her.
Sugar loved kids and babies. Whenever she heard a child cry, laugh, or talk, she would immediately run to them and stay next to them as long as possible. She was quiet and such a lovely complement to our Lucky.
When it was time to say good-by, Sugar greeted Dr Forslund with no anxiety, fear, or distress. She fell asleep in our arms. We were able to spend time with her before and after which was important to us. As we had experienced before with Dr Forslund, there was no rushing, and no sense of urgency to take Sugar away. We trusted Dr Forslund to handle Sugar’s remains in accordance with our wishes and knew that if we needed any help with our grieving, she was always there to help us.
Because of my positive experiences with Home Pet Euthanasia, I have been able to share this with my co-workers and other family members who are pet lovers, who may not have considered this or even been aware of such a wonderful service for their pets. Dr Forslund, thank you for all of your follow-up regarding my well-being after losing my two dogs. It was very hard for us to let go of the animals we have loved so much, but the memory of how, where, and by whom they were put to sleep has made all the difference in the world.
Sincerely,
Debra Berntsen & Dan Yniguez
