When we first rescued Lilly, she was an 80lb timid bundle of love. We had searched for a perfect addition to our household for months and knew the minute that we saw her at the shelter that she was "the one". From the moment Lilly set foot in the house, she was the Queen. We were warned by the dog trainer that if we gave Lilly an inch, she'd take a mile. Our girl had more personality than any dog I have ever come across. Everyone that met her fell in love with her. Whether she was drooling across the house, sneaking onto the bed, or "sliming" us as soon as we entered the house, all we had was love for her. Within the first couple of months of having Lilly, she was a new dog. She was at her healthy weight of about 100lbs... lovable, playful and obedient. We must have hundreds of pictures of Lily because she was just too loveable in our eyes and so photogenic. She became Ben's best friend and worst enemy. The two of them would play together one moment, then fight over doggy beds the next. Regardless, she was a good friend to Ben and I know he misses his companion very much.
I had brought Lilly in to get checked because her belly had been growing over some weeks. After blood tests and 3 different consultations, we found that Lilly was diagnosed with terminal cancer. We tried all we could to extend her life, including feeding her daily doses of Chinese herbs, organic dog food, and iron supplements. She started showing signs that she was taking a turn for the worse after a couple months. I will always cherish the last months that we were able to spend with her.
We are so sad to have lost such a huge part of our lives and our friends and family feel much the same way. We are so grateful for the care that Dr. Forslund took in the last hours of our Lilly Bear's life. She showed genuine concern over the comfort of our Lily and it was very comforting to have Lilly at the house in her last moments. We will recommend Dr. Forslund to any of our friends that find themselves in the unfortunate circumstance of having a dying pet.
