Dr. Meg was so respectful, kind, gentle and soft. It was as if she had known Max all her life. She was so caring and concerned about him. I couldn’t have asked for anything more. When the time came to release Max, Dr. Meg came to us to shepard Max and me through the last of our journey together.
Max, the love of my life was with me for 13 1/2 years, pretty old for a 90lb yellow lab. He lived through a lot of ups, and downs, wonderful times and sad times. He helped me usher in the age of being a grandmother to 6 girls, who loved and adored him, played with him, bathed him, walked him, rode on him, loved on him. He was a Christmas gift from my oldest friend.
Memories: the Christmas red bow he had on when I first saw him, learning to jump up on the bench, sleeping in a small, then bigger, and finally huge crate, playing fetch with any kind of ball or frisbee, playing tug of war with a rope ball, but had an innate sense of who was pulling on the other end, doing his business on command, digging only one time, one plant until I put chicken wire around it, loved eating ice cubes.
He loved to play with any toy that had a squeaker. He was very methodical at finding it, getting it out and very carefully fulling the squeak part out and all of the parts that made it work. Once he did that he was done with the toy. He could do it sometimes within 2 minutes.
Max was an exceptional dog. We loved each other deeply, and took care of each other.
