Jake, the greatest gift of love to my parents and the entire Alexander family, was a bouncing, 110 lb, skinny, yellow lab who needed a home after his owner tragically passed away. Dogs are not pets in our family. They are like siblings and fur children. Jake’s intelligence amazed us. His weight leveled at 122. He was not fat. He was tall—the largest yellow lab any of us had ever seen. His long tail wagged often in great sweeping motions. He knew so much and seemingly learned each day. He was spoiled and loved to the maximum, gaining ten pounds and many toys to play with along the way. My niece, nephew and many family friends would drop by to see him on a regular basis to tug on his rope and sadly, Jake had cirrhosis of the liver and started to fail a few days ago, after being seemingly unscathed by it all for months. He left his loving family to go to heaven leaving us with hearts full of memories and laughter. At the vet, he was known as HAPPY DOG. And, he was handsome!
Our dear Jake passed over the RAINBOW BRIDGE at 9:30 a.m., on a beautiful, sunny, warm spring morning. We all loved him as he loved us during his brief stay of less than a year. His passage was very peaceful. The presiding doctor could not have been more eloquent.
We will all miss you and will certainly love you Jake. You gave us an amazing year and made us very happy. We have had four family dogs—Jiggs, Cody, Mac and now big Jake. We loved each one with a passion. Some day, our family will gather in HEAVEN. The reunion will be joyous. And the happiest of all will be our “fur children”.
Thanks,
