I'd like to give a big 'Thank you!' to Home Pet Euthanasia. Making the decision to lay your pet to rest is something I wouldn't wish on anyone; the anxiety and uncertainty is unbearable. With something so difficult, when you're so vulnerable, you need gentle understanding. Home Pet Euthanasia provided genuine care and empathy, from phone call to follow up.
Dr. Jenny was so kind and helpful and comforting - I am not sure I could have done it without her energy and support. She was calm and sweet and had all the comfort a mother would bring. If angels work here on earth, she's one of them. I never felt judged or rushed or like I was crazy for hyperventilating-crying on the floor over my lost loved one. The follow up package and heartfelt condolences were an additional comfort. When they brought our boy home, we could tell he was handled like the precious cargo that he was. The personal touches and the effort they made to show they were truly there for us, made us feel safe. Nothing makes a time like this OK, but I am not sure I could have done it without the people at HPE.
Their hearts are as big as our pets', and that's saying something!
Scrappy was the "Marley and Me" of dogs - but from a medical standpoint. The things he survived, let me tell you! Now, we all know dogs teach us unconditional love, but he also taught me acceptance, how to be tough, and how to show up for one another, no matter what.
During Scrappy's youth, he ran free (no collars) in the forest of Colorado. He and his 'brother' Zoso, chased bears and deer and had untold adventures we'll never know about. He's had many friends, and lost some he loved, including Zoso. He went from a snow dog in Colorado to a warm retirement in California. He watched 'Mama' get a giant belly and walk really slow. He watched 'Mama' and 'Papa' bring home a stinky, loud, tiny human, who he begrudgingly warmed up to once she started giving him snacks. He's gone on dozens of road trips (some cross country!), hundreds of hikes and thousands of walks. He's survived everything from being shot (resulting in hip surgery and 14 staples), to Parvo, to porcupines to a giant burn down the length of his body and more. His fur was gorgeous and soft and his tail would make Farrah Fawcett jealous. He pranced like a rock star and made cars stop so they could say "hey! beautiful dog!". His grunts of excitement before a walk or a treat were infectious.
His ferocious bark when his fur puffed up was impressive. I could go on for days about him and it wouldn't scratch the surface of his awesome. But it wouldn't be right if I concluded without saying thank you to Scrappy. Thank you, for comforting me through dark times. Thank you for your snuggles and knowing eyes. Thank you for warming up my side of the bed. Thank you for teaching my daughter to be kind to animals. Thank you for the laughs and your clumsy demeanor. Thank you for your endless patience and forgiveness. Thank you for your love.
You changed my life - just like your brother did - and I'll think of you, love you, and be grateful for you, forever.
