Galford was rescued 7 years ago, and he came with lots of health problems. His thyroid, diabetes, a huge tumor, Cushing’s. Time and again he had to stay at the vet’s, and every time his stress level was really high, since he would think he was abandoned again.
By September of this year, his vet discovered new tumors and pancreatitis plus an infection in his blood. She would give him no hope. But Galfi would fight. He was a happy dog and unwilling to let go. He would insist in going for a walk, when he was so weak he couldn’t walk half a block. His Vet would be amazed every time he showed up for a new blood glucose test.
But his illness won. On Halloween day, 2010, he gave up. He refused to eat and refused to be petted, something never seen before. My family and I agreed not to take him to his vet for his final goodbye and cause him the last stress. We called Dr. Annie. Even though it was Halloween night, she came to our house and befriended Galfi before getting him ready. My beloved Galfi was able to leave in absolute peace, surrounded by all his family. His goodbye was as he always was: full of love.
We will always miss you, Galfi. But thanks to Dr. Annie, we are comforted in knowing you left happy.
Dr. Forslund, Galfi was a blessing being here, and you were a blessing returning him home!
