On September 23, 2021, Dr. Daniel visited our home to assist us in saying our final goodbye to our beautiful Bella. I’m so grateful for all he did to ensure that Bella had a peaceful transition to Rainbow Bridge. His sensitivity and compassion to the unbearable pain we were experiencing was comforting. This is my third time using Home Pet Euthanasia, and each time, they gave us the courage to do this solemn final act of love. It is an incredibly difficult act but with Home Pet Euthanasia, we felt reassured that Bella’s final moments would be full of love, tenderness, and tranquility. She passed away in her own house in her family’s arms with music playing and the scent of an ocean breeze candle.
Bella came to our house over 10 years ago as a 1.5 year-old rescue. She was not the dog we were seeking to adopt. We had completed an application for another Labrador, but the rescue volunteer insisted on us meeting Bella. I reluctantly agreed and will forever be grateful for that volunteer’s persistence. I am not quite sure what happened in Bella’s first year of life, but our family believes she suffered abuse. She never knew how to play. She flinched frequently, and she had such debilitating anxiety. Her body would shake when she was nervous. She always seemed tense (except in her home). Bella was the most perfect specimen physically. She could have been a show dog. She was athletic and stunning, but emotionally, she was severely scarred. No matter how much love or reassurance we gave her, I think the scars remained. They were always a part of who she was. Bella was highly intelligent, sensitive, and intuitive, which I think contributed to her anxiety. We rescued another lab named Buddy. Home Pet Euthanasia was there for Buddy’s final farewell in 2018. Buddy and Bella were soul mates. He recognized her need for reassurance, and he gave her what she needed. The day Buddy died, Bella made an excruciating howl in the middle of the night. When it was Bella’s time, we brought Buddy’s ashes to be with her. I like to think they are together once again.
Bella was also courageous, loyal, and tough. She was our protector. If you were in the wild, she was the dog you wanted with you. Any dog who tried to instigate a fight with Buddy, Bella was there to protect him. She defended me and her two canine brothers against three coyotes. I believe that Bella, without hesitation, would risk her life for family. She would have died and sacrificed herself for anyone in the family. I am grateful for Home Pet Euthanasia during this painful but unavoidable experience. I would not do it any other way. Bella was our little girl. We would do anything for her. She deserved to journey to Rainbow Bridge knowing how much her family loved her. We now have the difficult task of navigating life without our protector, but we remain grateful to God, because that is what Bella was. She was a gift from God.
