Mao-Mi

In our 14 years together, Mao-Mi was the only pet we ever had so we doted upon her. She had a mysterious lung ailment that began this summer and dramatically worsened in October. When antibiotics, steroids, and painkillers did not work, we made the heartbreaking decision to euthanize her. We didn't want her last moments to be in a cold, noisy veterinary clinic.
When Dr. Forslund arrived, she genuinely wanted to learn more about Mao-Mi. Our final gift to Mao-Mi was to end her suffering in the comfort of her own home. She passed away peacefully in our arms, gazing out into the backyard.

Losing Troy came out of the blue. He was playful, funny, and a total ham. He and I had an extraordinary relationship. But over a small space of time , I saw the light, and playfulness leave his eyes...replaced by fear, and uncertainty.
I do believe Troy gave us the gift, allowing us to let him go. As if he said to us, the show is over. Good night , Gracie! We all got it, and that's what has allowed us to heal.
I wanted to thank you again personally from our family ... and most especially Troy for providing a gentle transition to him on Sept 14th. He was a big dog with a big personality and his presence is missed in so many ways!! Yet we talk of his passing with gratitude, and how he recognized your arrival that day as his “exit”. It was a remarkable moment for us to witness his calm surrender. Thank you again for your calm and compassionate service at a difficult time.

I found Dr. Forslund on the internet and after speaking to her, I knew I'd call her when the time came. Miss Kitty was 19 and had suffered from diabetes for 3 years. Dr. Forslund is the kindest, most compassionate and empathetic vet I have ever met. She is a beautiful gift to pet owners and I will never forget her for providing such a wonderful, loving and peaceful ending to my precious Miss Kitty's life.

Thank you again, you are an amazing person, and we were so lucky to have met you.

We miss our Venus so much. Venus had a great life during her nine (9) years with us and we are very grateful. Venus was a happy go lucky girl with a great disposition and was very obedient in a Basset kind of way. We recognized that Venus was losing her battle against the disease when she stopped looking forward to her meals and her energy level declined. It was a difficult timing decision but we had to call Dr. Forslund and what a blessing! When Dr. Forslund rang our door bell, Venus barked and greeted her with enthusiasm and I do believe she knew that Dr. Forslund was here to help. Dr. Forslund’s caring and soothing demeanor made the entire process easier. I remember asking Venus to lie down next to me and she came to her blanket and put her head down on my arm as I lay down with her. It gives Robin and I great comfort to know that Venus had the best life possible with us and that her final days and moments was an easy transition to doggie heaven for her and in the comfort of her own home. We miss Venus. Thank you Dr. Forslund! Your support during the process and follow-up with us has been a foundation for our bereavement process.

It’s hard to write a tribute to Mollie because there are just not enough words to describe her. “Unique” was the word we heard most often about her. “Unbelievable” was another. Mollie was a Chinese Crested Powderpuff dog, a rare creature from the start. She was playful and intensely loving. I loved loving Mollie and being loved by her. Over the years, Mollie stood right by my side, as I got married and had children. Then her health started to decline. Finally, one day, in my heart, I knew it was time. I called Dr. Forslund and was immediately comforted. She was kind and listened to me cry on the phone. I don’t know what we would do if Dr. Forslund didn’t have the personality she does. She was so quiet and calm. It really did help us. We felt safe. We said goodbye to her in a respectful and honest way. In a very unusual way, her exit of this world was a beautiful one and instead of it being a horrible memory, I actually cherish it. The tears still come to me when I remember it, but it was a perfect end to a wonderful life.

Maui was such a wonderful and beautiful cat and she meant the world to me. When she got sick and it was evident that she wasn't going to survive, I knew that I wanted her to die peacefully in my arms at home. Dr. Annie was supportive, calm, and eager to provide peace and comfort to both me and Maui. She made a very difficult situation bearable.

Dear Dr. Forslund,

We received Slate's paw prints and the death certificate package last Thursday. The paw prints were amazing. The little joyous cat print on the original paw print was so perfect for Slate as that is how he was! And, the 2nd paw print was perfect with the little mouse and quote. We both cried buckets. Your words were so comforting. John and I can't thank you enough for everything. I think back to that evening and wouldn't have known what we would have done without you.

Aspen was heartbroken when her lifelong friend/sister (not from the same mom)Chelan passed away November 3, 2009. When our sweet dog Chelan passed we poured all of our heart and love into Aspen.
Our family feels so empty without our beautiful golden retrievers Chelan and Aspen. But thanks to your service, the end was a peaceful way for them to leave this world. You see Dr. Forslund knew Aspen, she was present when we had to euthanize Chelan. She remembered her right away, and was greatly sympathetic. I just have to say that this service is the most beautiful means of being able to deal with the death of your most beloved pet.

Little Dude was the best cat. He had such a huge personality and was famous for talking with me. It was hysterical how he would meow and I would say a few words and he would meow back. He would follow we all over the house. He was approaching 20 years old. One of our last visits to the vet we noticed a sore was growing in his mouth and the “c” word was mentioned. I decided to have him put to sleep at home. I searched the web and found Dr Annie Forslund's website. The entire site explained the process and I could feel the empathy she felt for anyone in my position. She really cared and wanted to make sure that the absolutely best care was given to the owner and the pet. I could not take Little Dude back to the vet. He needed to be with me and in his own bed at home. No stress, no apprehension only be in his loving environment. Thank you Dr. Forslund. You're the best!

On Monday, August 2, 2010 at 6:45 a.m., I lost my beautiful daughter, Blackie. Most people would look at Blackie as a just a cuddly little mutt, but to me, she was more and will always be more than a dog. In the last month of her life, I saw her deteriorate so much. My greatest fear was that she would suffer in pain and that I would not be there for her when she passed. I called Dr. Forslund at 5:30 a.m. asking her to come earlier than our planned appointment. She came within an hour.

Dr. Forslund held me as soon as she arrived. She then sat down next to Blackie and spoke to her. She told me to take my time. She never rushed me. I looked in Blackie’s eyes the entire time and wept uncontrollably, and then my baby Blackie went to Rainbow Bridge.

Dr. Forslund contacted me after this to see how I was managing. It really meant a lot to me. She didn’t just do her job and that was it. She cared enough to see how I was because she understood how painful my loss was. I am so thankful for the service Dr. Forslund provided. My Blackie deserved nothing but the best. I would have done ANYTHING in the world for Blackie. I LOVE YOU BLACKIE AND MOMMY MISSES YOU.

Suzie was adopted from the Orange County Animal shelter in February of 2000. She was such a beautiful dog, lying down in her cage...and when I spoke to her...her ears pricked up and she carefully listened to me. Her eyes shone with intelligence. As I was speaking, Suzie lifted a paw towards me and placed it against the chain link fence separating us. I felt we had been chosen by this dog.
At the age of 10 Suzie developed a painful condition that necessitated emergency surgery. In the middle of the surgery, the vet called to say euthanasia was an option. We decided to give her a chance at life. She survived over 2 years after the emergency treatment. Despite battling horrendous health issues, Suzie's disposition never took a turn for the worse...she was always and forever sweet, loving, and trusting. When the condition returned, we decided not to have Suzie suffer."

Thanks, Dr. Forslund, for making Suzie's last moments peaceful.
